The opera house will be part of a new complex for Canada's largest faculty of music at McGill University. Phase 2 of the project includes the 1,200 seat opera house shown here. The room may also accommodate symphony orchestras if so required, making use of the moveable ceiling to increase the volume and reverberation in the room. The Faculty of Music Building and the Opera House were designed by saucier + perrotte architects. The design was recognized with the Canadian Architect Award of Excellence. |
